24th Amendment: 1964- abolished poll tax which required a tax in order to vote in certain states
Civil Rights Act of 1964- prohibits discrimination of all kinds based on race, color, religion, or national origin. The law prohibited discrimination in public places, provided for the integration of schools and other public facilities, and made employment discrimination illegal. This document was the most sweeping civil rights legislation since Reconstruction.
Voting Rights Act- 1965- made it easier African Americans to register to vote in the South, poll taxes, literacy tests illegal under this act.
Civil Rights Act of 1968- fair housing for all people- signed only days after MLK had been assassinated
